In honor of National Poetry Month, Dean College’s Acevedo
Literary Scholar-in-Residence Marsha Nourse, will host a public lecture titled
“Celebrating 150 Years of Poetry in America 1865-2015” at 7 p.m. April 12, 2016 in
the Atrium - inside Dean's Campus Center, 99 Main St., Franklin.
In conjunction with the 150th anniversary of Dean College, a
course was developed this spring to celebrate 150 years of American poetry,
studying one poet in each decade from 1865 to 2015. From the traditional
American poets including Longfellow, Dickinson and Whitman, through the
modernists including Carl Sandburg, Langston Hughes and Robert Frost to the
souls of contemporary poets Allen Ginsberg, Robert Bly, Jane Kenyon and others,
students were immersed in the voices of American poets and their lives.
The lecture will feature a multimedia presentation on the
poets, poetry in the course and a historical backdrop on and off the Dean
campus.The event is FREE and open to the public. No registration required.

As President of The Kraft Group, Jonathan Kraft is actively involved in the day to day operations of all the Group's companies while maintaining a focus on driving the growth and diversification of the Group.
In paper and packaging the Group’s holdings include: Rand-Whitney Group, a manufacturer of corrugated containers; International Forest Products (IFP), a trader of paper commodities doing business in over 90 countries; Rand-Whitney Containerboard and New-Indy Containerboard, manufacturers of 100% high performance recycled linerboard. Together these companies convert, produce and distribute over 4 million tons of paper and pulp annually.

Dean College Presents: Hair, April 6-10, 2016
The School of the Arts at Dean College will perform Hair,
beginning Wednesday, April 6, 2016 through Sunday, April 10, 2016.
Set in the turbulent era of the Vietnam War and "Free
Love," Hair presents the rock music and revolutionary culture that went
with it on the stage. This show has a vitality, a timelessness, and a meaning
that outlives the late 1960's and early 1970's in America. It has a strong
effect on everyone and acts as a bridge between generations and viewpoints.
What looks like incredible chaos is actually organized chaos. Phenomenal
musical numbers include Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, I Believe in Love,
Hair, I Got Life and What a Piece of Work is Man and Hippie Life. You won’t
want to miss our talented students perform this musical performance!
The Dean College production of Hair will take place in the
Main Stage in the Campus Center at Dean College, 99 Main Street, Franklin at
7:30 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range
from $5-$22 and can be purchased online. PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

The Dean College Women's Basketball finished the National Tournament with a loss against Waubonsee Community College (76-67) in the consolation round this past Thursday, March 17th at 2:00pm EST.
Even though the team fell short, this year they have set the school record for victories (24) and also a school record for most consecutive Region championships (3). Coach Grahm Smith took home the Coach of the Year award for the division and since his three years at Dean, the women have a 57-17 record.

Dean College, a private, residential college located in Franklin, Massachusetts, has been approved by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to offer a new stand alone B.S. degree.
Dean College, a private, residential college located in
Franklin, Massachusetts, has been approved by the Massachusetts Board of Higher
Education to offer a new stand-alone B.S. degree. Beginning in fall 2016,
students at Dean College will be able to complete a Bachelor of Science in
Sport Fitness, Recreation and Coaching.
This new B.S. program will prepare students for a dynamic
career in any aspect of the athletic world, including coaching, physical
education, exercise science and more.
“We are very excited to offer to our students a solid,
professional pathway to careers in fields as diverse as corporate fitness,
professional coaching, and community recreation,” said Dr. Michael Fishbein,
vice president of academic affairs at Dean College. “The technical knowledge
and skills students will master will ready them to enter the playing field at a
Dean College now proudly offers 13 bachelor degree programs,
including Arts and Entertainment Management, Business Management,
Communications, Dance, English, History, Liberal Arts and Studies, Psychology,
Security Management, Sociology, Sport Fitness, Recreation and Coaching, Sport
Management and Theatre.
Additionally, Dean College offers associate degree programs,
as well as a robust schedule of part-time continuing and professional education
