Dean College is a private, residential college committed to providing students with a personalized pathway to the baccalaureate degree by fostering academic success and personal confidence through our 15 associate degree and 5 baccalaureate degree programs.
At Dean you will receive a solid foundation in your choice of majors. In today's world where business is increasingly diversified and global, the foundation of a liberal arts education is a valuable and marketable asset for your future career goals.
In the two-year associate degree program, students can major in one of 15 areas, all designed to transfer smoothly into bachelor degree programs: Business Administration, Communications, Criminal Justice, Dance, Early Childhood Education, English, Environmental Science (New in 2010-2011), Health Sciences, History, Liberal Studies, Math/Science, Psychology, Sociology, Sport/Fitness Studies, and Theatre Arts.
In the four-year bachelor's degree program, students can major in one of 5 areas: Arts and Entertainment Management, Business (New in 2010-2011), Dance, Liberal Arts and Studies (New in 2010-2011), or Theatre (New in 2010-2011). Students can either begin directly in the bachelor degree program, or move from one of our associate degree majors into our bachelor degree program through a streamlined internal application process.
Students can also complete a bachelor of science degree on the Dean College campus through our innovative partnership with Suffolk University. Available majors in this partnership include: Communications/Public Relations, General Studies, Psychology, Sociology/Crime and Justice, and Sociology/General Sociology. Minors in Communication and Journalism, Education Studies, Government, Psychology, and Sociology are also available to Suffolk/Dean students.
The Dean College Honors Program presents a rigorous interdisciplinary approach to the learning experience. The program provides academically talented and motivated students an opportunity to participate in stimulating and challenging courses, seminars and colloquia during their tenure at Dean College. Exciting cultural and co-curricular activities outside the traditional classroom environment supplement and enhance the learning experience.
Participation in the Honors Program has opened up transfer and scholarship opportunities for Dean associate degree graduates, including to some of the best institutions in the country such as Cornell University, Hampshire College, Middlebury College, Mount Holyoke College, Simmons College, and the University of Michigan. Dean bachelor degree honors scholars are able to continue their education at the graduate level, well prepared for this next phase of their education as a result of their participation in the Dean College Honors Program.
