BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT
The Bachelor of Arts in Arts and Entertainment Management is designed for students who are interested in the business side of show business and the entertainment world. The major features in-depth coursework ranging from business and communications, to media arts, dance and theatre management. Students who major in Arts and Entertainment Management have a passion for the arts, a focus on the creative artist and audience, and a strong commitment to helping arts and entertainment organizations fulfill their missions.
BACHELOR OF ARTS IN DANCE
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance offers classes in the four main dance disciplines – Modern, Ballet, Jazz and Tap – within a broad Liberal Arts environment. Areas of concentration are offered that mirror your career goals. The B.A. in Dance degree leads to preparation for careers in performing, teaching, dance history, choreography, directing, dance medicine, dance journalism, and arts and entertainment management.
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Studies builds on the College's strengths in our associate degrees in English, history, liberal studies, psychology and sociology to create a curriculum that emphasizes the dynamic, flexible mindset needed in today's complex world. The power to think critically. To solve problems. To synthesize information from multiple sources in order to make decisions. This major has two main components -- a concentration in a specific area, such as Humanities (English, history) or Social Sciences (psychology, sociology), and an interdisciplinary core that explores key issues and themes from a variety of perspectives for a nuanced understanding of the complexities of the world. Employers are seeking college graduates with these skills and abilities. So, what can you do with a Liberal Arts and Studies degree. Anything, because this degree prepares you for a world that is constantly changing.
Dean College has an outstanding reputation in the performing arts -- through our associate degrees in theatre and musical theatre as well as our bachelor degrees in arts and entertainment management and in dance. The new bachelor of arts in theatre rounds out these offerings, and expands opportunities for students who want to remain on campus to study in a program that continually wins awards. This unique program builds on a student's passion for theatre and provides the practical and theoretical skills necessary for a lifelong career in theatre. The program includes courses in acting, technical production, directing, teaching, stage management, combined with required hands-on experience each and every semester. Students will also learn critical career skills throughout the curriculum. The results -- an education that promotes the synergy between the craft and business of one's art to build a sustainable career.
Dean College students have the opportunity to pursue a Suffolk University baccalaureate degree in Communications/Public Relations, General Studies, Psychology, Sociology/Crime and Justice, and Sociology/General Sociology on campus. Suffolk/Dean students may also minor in one of the following areas: Education Studies, Government, Communications, Psychology, or Sociology.
Dean Associate degree graduates can enjoy a seamless transition to Suffolk University at Dean and benefit from the combination of Suffolk University academic programs and faculty plus the Dean College campus, facilities and support staff. Financial Aid is available to all qualified students and housing is available on a limited basis.
