Dean College is a private, residential college committed to providing students a personalized pathway to the baccalaureate degree by fostering academic success and personal confidence in our associate degree and baccalaureate programs. The Office of Admission is here to help you every step of the way to help you determine whether Dean is the right place for you to PREPARE FOR WHAT’S NEXT.
Admission Philosophy
At Dean, we recognize that each student is an individual and as such we take an inclusive as opposed to exclusive approach to reviewing applications. It is our goal to make the process as accessible and seamless as possible for every student who wants to pursue the advantages that come from the Dean experience. We encourage you to contact your Admission Counselor throughout the process. You can find yours in Admissions Contacts.
How to Apply
Dean offers a number of options to complete and submit an application:
Domestic Applicants
·         Use Dean’s Online Application – It’s Free!
·         Apply Using the Universal College Application – Dean is a member institution
·         Download a Paper Application
Dean College will also accept the Common Application. However, since Dean is currently not a member institution in CommonApp, we can only accept a printed copy of the application mailed to the Office of Admission.
International Applicants
Students applying for admission who are not US citizens or permanent residents are encouraged to complete the International Student Application process. Please download the following forms to complete the application for admission:
·         Dean College International Student Application
·         Declaration of Finances Form
·         International Student Recommendation Form
Application Requirements and Review Process
Applications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis, so, the sooner you apply, the sooner you’ll get a decision! Once a student has completed the application process (including submission of all required documents), you will typically be notified within 2 weeks. The following credentials are required to complete your application:
·         Most recent high school transcript
·         Copies of transcripts from any colleges attended
·         An essay or personal statement – You can choose one of our topics or any other topic you want! (Just remove “I want to go to Harvard because…”)
·         SAT and/or ACT score report sent from the testing agency
·         Letter of recommendation from a guidance/college counselor or teacher
Additional Requirements for Dance Program Applicants
Students applying to either the Bachelor of Arts or Associate in Arts degree programs in Dance must submit with their application a dance resume of the last four years, a recent full-length photograph in dance attire illustrating appropriate form/posture, and a 3-minute video (in DVD format) including one minute of ballet barre and a movement sequence in any other genre of dance that is the best representation of your strength, versatility and performance quality.
Although auditions are not required for entrance to the College, once accepted into the School of Dance and admitted to the College, both A.A. and B.A. students are required to audition for level placement. This allows the student to progress more rapidly and along with other students with similar backgrounds. For more information, please contact Krista Russo, Sr. Admission Counselor.
Interviews

While interviews are not required for admission, they are strongly encouraged so we can help you assess the best educational offering for you at Dean. Interviews and tours of campus are offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. most weekdays throughout the year. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact the Office of Admission at 508-541-1508.
