The Dean College soccer teams both won highlighting a great day at Longley Field during Friends and Family Weekend. The men defeated Bridgton 4 0 while the women beat Bunker Hill by the same score. The football team went down to defeat 18 14 to
Dean College freshman, Derril Thomas, was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week for the week of September 14th, 2014.
The NJCAA national office announced Wednesday Dean freshman return specialist Derril Thomas was named the special teams player of the week. Thomas, a 5-11,171-pound freshman from Ashburn, Virginia/Broad Run, returned four punts,including one for a 59-yard touchdown, in the Bulldogs' 35-6 win over the Globe Institute of Technology. He had 122 return yards in the contest.Thomas was joined on the NJCAA player of the week listing by Hutchinson freshman wide receiver, Juwan Dickey, and Ellsworth sophomore linebacker, Angelo Sumler.
On Saturday, September 20, Dean College hosted
its annual Family & Alumni Day, a day chocked full of activities for
students, children and alumni.
Throughout the day, attendees shopped in the bookstore and took campus tours. Many also attended an Open House at any School of their
choice. The open houses were a great time for families to meet college deans,
faculty and advisors, and to learn what students are studying in classes.
On an athletic note, alumni were able to participate in a yearly
tradition: the Alumni vs. Men’s Lacrosse and the Alumni vs. Baseball games!
Other athletic events included the 12:00pm Women’s Soccer game, the 1:00pm
Football game (Dean lost 14-18 to HVCC) and the 2:00pm Men’s Soccer game. Hundreds of people took the shuttle from Dean down to
Longley Field and enjoyed food and fun at the
Game Day Cookout!
Following all the day’s events was the Dean Showcase at the
Guidrey Center. This was a special evening of performances by alumni, students,
faculty and staff who presented scenes, songs and dances for the Dean

Dean College has recently partnered with the Massachusetts
Community Colleges system in recognizing the MassTransfer Block for full
transfer upon acceptance to Dean College.
Similar to the agreement already in existence among the public higher
education institutions in MA, students from all 15 community colleges who
successfully complete this block of 34 credits of general education with a
cumulative GPA of 2.0 will meet the general education core requirements for the
Dean College curriculum.
“Dean College recognizes that students wishing to pursue a
Bachelor’s degree should have as many options as possible as they continue
their education. We strive to make the
transfer process seamless and efficient and this agreement will simplify the
transfer process for students,” said John Marcus, Vice President of Enrollment Services
and Marketing at Dean College.

Undefeated Season Intact
Sadarius Williams ran for three touchdown and Derrill Thomas
returned a punt for a 60-yard touchdown as the Dean Bulldogs ran their record
to 3-0 with a 35-6 win over Globe Institute of Technology (New York, NY).
Dean scored first with a 1-yard TD run by Williams, but Globe came right back
with a long touchdown pass to cut the lead to 7-6. Dean added two more
touchdowns in the first half for a 21-6 lead, and added two scores in the third
quarter to put the game away.
Dean plays Hudson Valley Community College
next week in the Family Day game at 1pm at Longley Field.
