All student residence rooms are equipped with at least one phone line. The residence halls with multiple phone lines in each room are Mitchell House, Chapman House, and Lucey Hall. All rooms, including multiple line ones, are assigned one designated contact number.

Students should contact roommate(s) before arriving on campus to decide who will be bringing a telephone. Any type of standard telephone will work with the Dean telephone system. Students are encouraged to bring a telephone with voicemail capabilities, but can optionally request a voicemail account with the IT Helpdesk. Instructions will be provided upon request.

Each student will receive an individual voicemail box for family and friends to leave messages on. Upon arrival, students will receive detailed information on dialing and voicemail usage.

Students have unlimited on-campus and local calling. Students have 4 options for dialing long distance:

  • Bring a personal cell-phone;
  • Bring a telephone calling card from home;
  • Utilize a calling card;
  • Call collect.

Students having problems with harassing telephone calls should immediately notify Public Safety at ext. 1888.

General telephone and voicemail problems should be reported by contacting the Student IT helpdesk either by telephone at ext.1633 (508-541-1633), or in person by stopping by the lobby of the Technology and Science Center, or via e-mail at helpdesk@dean.edu.
