“Use Props 2 Get Props” is theme for Dean Step/Dance Showcase February 27

         Franklin, MA – February 3, 2010 – Dean College’s Multi Cultural Club will present “Use Props 2 Get Props” – an evening of Step and dance that will include Step/Dance teams from around the region as well as the college’s four Step/Dance groups.   The showcase is scheduled for Saturday, February 27.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at the College’s Campus Center Multi Purpose Room (MPR) and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are free for the Dean Community and $3 for area residents. Tickets will be available at the door on the night of the showcase.

                “This regional step and dance showcase pushes the envelope of creativity, charisma and imagination,” said James Runner, III area coordinator for Community Development at Dean and organize of the showcase. 

                “Each team has to select and use a prop while performing the art form of stepping and the technique of hip hop dance,” said Runner noting that this is the third year the showcase has taken place at Dean.

Stepping features a style of dancing with stomping rhythm and creative movements as dancers compete with one another or in teams.

This event will showcase two of Dean College’s Stepping teams: Brothahood and Zuri, as well as teams from around the region.

Those attending are encouraged to also bring a non-perishable food item for the Franklin Food Pantry.
