A.A. Degrees – Communication Arts, Theatre Arts, Musical Theatre
B.A. Degrees – Arts & Entertainment Management, Theatre

The School of the Arts offers associate degree programs in Communication Arts, Theatre Arts and Musical Theatre and two bachelor degree programs in Arts & Entertainment Management and Theatre. The curriculum of each program is designed to introduce the theoretical foundation of the area and then to engage students in the practical application of what is learned in the classroom.

Communication Arts

Students in this program gain valuable experience either on the college’s 175-watt stereo radio station (WGAO 88.3 FM)as on air personalities or news and/or sports commentators or in the Telecommunications Center which houses the college’s video facility, serving as directors, camera operators, floor supervisors, and editors.

Theatre Arts and Musical Theatre

Students in these  programs have a variety of performing opportunities which include four full scale productions per year. In addition, students have further performance opportunities by enrolling in the Musical Theatre Ensemble course, performing in the fall Cabaret production or taking part in student directed one-act plays.

Arts & Entertainment Management

Students in this baccalaureate program gain valuable experience in an area of their concentration by working in on campus productions and workshops, in addition to experiencing a hands on internship during their final semester.

Theatre

The Theatre baccalaureate program expands builds on a student's passion for theatre and provides practical and theoretical skills necessary for a lifelong career in theatre. The program includes courses in acting, technical production, directing, teaching, stage management, combined with required hands-on experience each and every semester.  Students will also learn critical career skills throughout the curriculum.  The results -- an education that promotes the synergy between the craft and business of one's art to build a sustainable career.

Throughout the education process professional are invited to guest speak in the classroom. Students are encouraged and taken on field trips to radio/television studios, theatres and other arts & entertainment venues.
