Dean College is the only college in the Northeast offering an A.A. and a B.A. in Dance
At Dean you’ll benefit from personalized teaching and receive a strong preparation in ballet, jazz, modern, and tap within the context of a liberal arts curriculum. The program also features additional master classes with professional dancers and choreographers, as well as trips to dance, music and theatre performances in Boston and New York.

Students majoring in Dance are exposed to an in-depth curriculum in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance and can complete the baccalaureate degree in Dance at Dean. Our classes are conducted in one of four dance studios. The Dean College School of Dance also offers students the opportunity to audition for and be a part of many exciting on-campus productions, including the highly recognized Dean Dance Company.

The History of Dance at Dean…
The college has offered an Associate in Arts degree in Dance for the last two decades. Dean College also offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. B.A. Dance students may also minor in Business/Business Technology, Psychology, or Theatre. Through the independent Study, the School of Dance is affiliated with the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York.

Admission Requirements for
Dean College Dance Department

Students applying to either the Bachelor of Arts or Associate in Arts degree programs in Dance must submit with their application a dance resume of the last four years, a recent full-length photograph in dance attire illustrating appropriate form/posture, and a 3-minute video (in DVD format) including one minute of ballet barre and a movement sequence in any other genre of dance that is the best representation of your strength, versatility and performance quality.

Although auditions are not required for entrance to the College, once accepted into the School of Dance and admitted to the College, both A.A. and B.A. students are required to audition for level placement. This allows the student to progress more rapidly and along with other students with similar backgrounds. For more information, visit our Admission page.

Placement Auditions are on Saturdays in March 20, April 17 and May 15, 2010.
