HOCKOMOCK AREA YMCA SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
Dean College’S 2011–2012 FULL TUITION Scholarship
North Attleboro, MA—The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking applicants for Dean College’s 2011–2012 full tuition scholarship. This is the ninth year that Dean College is awarding a one-year scholarship to a member or volunteer of the Hockomock Area YMCA.
“We are proud to be involved in such a rewarding partnership with Dean College; it is a relationship that allows both organizations to continue to positively impact our communities,” said Ed Hurley, president of the YMCA. “This scholarship program enables a deserving student to continue to learn, grow, and develop.”
Applications are available at the member service desks’ of the Foxboro, Franklin, Mansfield, and North Attleboro YMCA branches; online at www.hockymca.org; and through the guidance offices at the following high schools: Bellingham, Bishop Feehan, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational and Technical, Cumberland, Foxboro, Franklin, Hopedale, King Philip Regional, Mansfield, Medway, Milford, Nipmuc Regional, North Attleboro, Sharon, and Tri-County Regional Vocational and Technical. Completed applications must be submitted to the branch member services desks by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011.
To be eligible for this award, high school seniors must fulfill the following four requirements:
- Meet admission requirements to Dean College;
- Be a current member or volunteer at the Hockomock Area YMCA;
- Reside within one of the 15 communities served by the Hockomock Area YMCA—Bellingham, Foxboro, Franklin, Hopedale, Mansfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Plainville, Sharon, Walpole, Wrentham, and Cumberland, Rhode Island; and
- Be a student at one of the previously listed high schools.
“The Dean College community is pleased to provide this scholarship opportunity to a deserving student,” said John Marcus, Vice President for Enrollment Services and Marketing. “We look forward to welcoming the recipient to our campus in September and assisting in his/her pursuit of a college degree,” he added.
Dean College is a private residential college founded in 1865 and located in Franklin, Massachusetts. The College has a full time enrollment of approximately 1,050 students. Dean College awards associate degrees for 15 academic majors and baccalaureate degrees in Arts and Entertainment Management, Dance, Business, Liberal Arts and Studies and Theatre.Outside of the classroom, Dean College fields twelve intercollegiate varsity teams, including the nationally-ranked Dean College Bulldogs football team.Additionally, more than 25 clubs and organizations meet on campus, ranging from Phi Theta Kappa to the Ski and Snowboard Club.
