Jay T Jenkins ’77 featured speaker at Dean College “Leadership in Action” series February 22
Franklin, MA – February 14, 2011 – Jay T Jenkins, ’77, will be the featured speaker at the February 22 presentation of Dean’s “Leadership in Action” series in the College’s Campus Center Atrium from 4-5 p.m. The program is free of charge and open to the public.
Jenkins, a trained musician, dancer and choreographer is the creator of the “Jazz Funk” style. He trained as a musician in piano, trumpet and voice and studied dance with Phil Black in Jazz, the Alvin Ailey instructor William Chaison, and Dean College’s Joan Palladino for Modern. He has choreographed for feature films, industrials, music videos and recording artists’ concert tours, working with Prince, Salt N’ Pepa, Kool Moe Dee, Cyndi Lauper, Jennifer Lopez and many others.
Jay T recently returned from teaching in Cyprus and Rwanda, where he was a consultant on the development of the country’s new Arts Council. He is currently on staff at Steps on Broadway, Alvin Ailey Studios and Montclair State University, and has been generous in giving time to his alma mater, Dean College.
The Dean Leadership Institute has sponsored annual lecture programs, and will conclude the season with its Executive Lecture program on April 6, 2011. That program begins at 5:30 p.m. in the College’s Campus Center Multi Purpose Room with a networking reception. The lecture, featuring James Roosevelt, President and CEO of Tufts Health Plan, will begin at 6:30.
