Men’s Soccer Team Has a Chance to Elevate to the Next Level in Regional Championship game

October 25, 2012

Regional Championship game VS #20 Massasoit set for Saturday, October 27

Coach Jim Hopkins must be pleased this year with the effort and talent on the men’s soccer team.  The team, at one point ranked #17 in the entire country, has the highest winning percentage in Coach Hopkins’ four years as head coach, gave up an average of one goal per game, and has four sophomores who will be candidates for Academic All Americans.  Coach Hopkins hopes that is just the beginning.

With a win this Saturday in Brockton at Massasoit Community College, the men’s soccer team advance themselves to the district championship game for the first time in eight years.  Coach Hopkins knows it will not be easy – Brockton has a solid defense that has allowed just four goals to Dean in their two meetings this year. Dean, however, has allowed only two goals to Massasoit in two meetings with Massasoit this season. On October 17th in Franklin, just one goal was yielded by the Dean defense as the Bulldogs defeated Massasoit 3-1 with some ferocious defense and solid goaltending. September 19th, however, did not yield the desired results as Dean was shutout 1-0 in Brockton.

Dean travels to Brockton to play Massasoit in the regional championship game on Saturday, October 27 at 1:00pm.
