Dean College has now been returned to normal power. Happy Halloween!

Certain portions of the Dean College campus are still currently operating on generator power.  Based on information from National Grid, we hope to have a return to normal power sometime on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.  Once restored, Dean College will bring down its generators and return to power provided by National Grid.  An additional status update will be provided on Wednesday.

3:00 PM

Power has not been restored to a portion of the town of Franklin, Massachusetts, including a segment of the Dean College campus, which is still being powered by generator.  Dean College has tried to remain in regular contact with National Grid to get the situation resolved as quickly as possible.

We will provide a further update this evening as to the status of power. For now, we thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.

All remaining buildings without power are up on generator.  An official decision on classes will be posted by 6:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

Due to the storm, power was lost at approximately 4:00 p.m. EST in some buildings on campus.  The Science building is up and running on its generator and we are estimating that the remaining buildings will have generator power by 9:00 p.m.  

Another update will be posted on status later this evening and an official decision on classes will be posted by 6:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

11:00 AM EST

As of 11:00 AM, Dean College remains at full power.  Due to the worsening of the storm however, the College would like to advise of the following updates:

1) The Smith Dining Center will remain continuously open until 5:00 PM EST. Lunch will be served from 11:00 - 1:30 PM and a hot dinner will be served from 3:00 -5:00 PM. The Dining Center will close at exactly 5:00 PM for the remainder of the day. 

2) The game room at Boomers will be open from 1:00 - 5:00 PM today for students. No food will be served in this location.

3) The College will be instituting a mandatory curfew beginning at 6:00 PM for all students currently on campus. This means that all students on campus must be in their residence hall at this time. Any student that went home for the weekend is encouraged to remain at home for their safety.

Students are again reminded to log into My Courses as instructors may be posting assignment information. As of now, classes are scheduled as normal for Tuesday October 30, 2012.  A status update will be posted this evening and an official decision on classes will be posted by 6:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

As you are aware, the northeast will be impacted by Hurricane Sandy within the next 24 hours. The forecast currently calls for the Franklin area and surrounding communities to be impacted by sustained winds and rain.  Due to the impending storm, Dean College will be closed on Monday October 29, 2012. 

All students should plan on logging in to My Courses as instructors may be posting assignment information.

The Dean College Emergency Response Team has been closely monitoring the impending storm that is scheduled to reach the Franklin, MA area within the next 24 hours.
