Criminal Justice
Most federal, state and local law enforcement services,
as well as private security agencies, recognize the need for personnel
with specialized college education. Dean’s major in criminal justice
provides that education. The major offers a broad overview of many
of the specific fields within Criminal Justice and prepares students
for transfer or entry into growing career opportunities in community
corrections, security, and juvenile justice upon graduation. An
additional highlight of the major is that many of the courses are
taught by faculty with real-world experience, including prosecutors,
police officers, and corrections professionals.
Students may complete a baccalaureate degree in Sociology
with a concentration in Criminology and Law on the Dean College
Campus through the SUFFOLK/DEAN Program.
Criminal Justice students have transferred to such schools
as: Anna Maria College, Bridgewater State College*, Hawaii Pacific
University, Northeastern University*, Providence College, Rhode
Island College, Rutgers University, Salem State College, Salve Regina
University*, Stony Brook University, Suffolk University*, University
of Hartford, University of Maryland, University of Massachusetts-Amherst,
University of Massachusetts–Boston*, University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth*,
University of Massachusetts-Lowell*, University of New Haven, University
of Rhode Island, University of Tampa*, and Westfield State College.
*Formal transfer agreements exist with these colleges.
