Organizations today increasingly rely on technology to conduct business and to operate more efficiently. The Business Technology major at Dean College has been carefully designed to provide students with a curriculum that offers transferable courses combining both business and technology. Students are given the opportunity to learn current business theories and develop necessary skills such as problem solving, human relations, management, and technology.
The mission of this major at Dean College is to supply students with a superior education in business technology that will qualify them to successfully pursue either a baccalaureate degree in Business Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, or in Management.
Through courses with a business foundation, the general skills required for Business Technology majors in their freshman and sophomore years are the following:
- effective written and oral communication skills,
- computer concepts, applications, and web development,
- mathematics, accounting, and quantitative skills,
- fundamental knowledge of business, economics and social sciences.
Through Dean College's on-campus Independent Study program, students will also gain valuable hands-on experience by working with computers in a business setting.
