Most federal, state and local law enforcement services, as well as private security agencies, recognize the need for personnel with specialized college education. Dean's major in criminal justice provides that education. The major offers a broad overview of many of the specific fields within Criminal Justice and prepares students for transfer or entry into a career upon graduation. Specific areas in which a student might specialize are corrections, probation and parole, and law enforcement. An additional highlight of the major is that many courses are taught by instructors who work in the field as lawyers, police officers, and corrections or security professionals.
Students may complete a baccalaureate degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and Law on the Dean College campus through the SUFFOLK/DEAN Partnership.
