Philosophy

The Philosophy major is designed to expose students to the history and major branches of philosophy, and to help students develop their reasoning and argument skills. The major offers courses in logic, ethics (including business and biomedical ethics), feminist philosophy, and social and political philosophy which present a range of perspectives and positions on some of the most important issues facing our complex, global society.

Students majoring in philosophy are those who love to think deeply and argue about important issues. They enjoy reading and debating, and are curious about the world around them. These students can go on to major in philosophy at their transfer institution, or in any major that requires considerable reading and critical thinking. Students with degrees in philosophy go into a wide array of careers, and many go on to graduate schools. Philosophers write, teach, research, and debate. They work in the fields of law, medicine, government, and education. This major prepares students for virtually any career that requires the ability to think critically about complex issues.

For more information on the Philosophy major, and the courses in that major, PLEASE CLICK HERE to go to the on-line catalog, and then scroll to the Philosophy section of the catalog.
