Sociology with a concentration in Crime and Justice, or General Sociology*
The Sociology Department at Suffolk University offers a challenging and stimulating curriculum that prepares students to engage as critical thinkers and active citizens within a diverse global society.  This major is an integrated program of study that combines a broad curriculum within sociology with an option to specialize in specific concentrations within the major.

General Sociology: The concentration in General Sociology offers a broad and substantial exposure to the problems and prospects associated with culture institutions, social inequities, human relations social process, social movements and social change.  It provides students with a fundamental knowledge base from which to approach a variety of careers in the professions or work in human service, non-profits, community advocacy, government or business.  It is also an excellent foundation for entrance into graduate study.

Crime and Justice: The concentration in Crime and Justice offered through the SUFFOLK/DEAN program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter, and be effective in, the various fields of adult and juvenile justice, youth development, community justice, victim advocacy, and human services.  An emphasis upon the relationship between the law and society make ti an equally valuable track for graduate criminology and legal studies.

Psychology*
The baccalaureate degree in Psychology offered through the SUFFOLK/DEAN program provides students with the opportunity to explore numerous aspects of individual experience including cognition, emotion, movitation, learning and memory.  Further, the field examines the development of the person across the life span, in terms of understanding the emergence of normal and abnormal patterns of individuals and groups.  Since the psychology major has relevance for many career paths, we encourage students to explore their interests of psychology with other disciplines (e.g. Law, Education, Management, Government, Sociology.)  Exciting research opportunities exist for students at all levels.  These research tutorials involved the student in many of the hands-on elements of research, and thus provide excellent training for students preparing for graduate study in the field of psychology.
