write WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

The Dean College Children's Center is an award-winning fully accredited on-campus preschool for area youngsters ages 2.9 to 6 years. The program is designed to encourage maximum development of a child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth. The children benefit from a low student-teacher ratio, as Dean College Early Childhood Education Students work with college faculty and Children's Center Staff in the center. All children's programs consist of two groups of 15 children, each with one teacher and three student teachers. The adult/child ratio is 1:4.

All children's programs are multi-age. This way of organizing ourselves, sometimes call family grouping, allows every child to find friends at his/her own developmental level.

Children must be 2 years 9 months to enroll in our 2-day a.m., 3-day a.m., or 5-day a.m. groups.

Children 4 years and older are encouraged to enroll in the 4-day p.m. groups.

Children who are younger than 4 years old may be enrolled into the afternoon groups, based on a visit and/or Dean College Children's Center teacher's recommendation. There may be children who are age eligible and not well suited. In these cases, a visit and/or Dean College Children’s Center teacher recommendation will be required.

All programs are scheduled on consecutive days so that children and teachers can follow through on activities they have begun.
