Robert J. Cuomo, Ph.D.

Robert J. Cuomo, Ph.D. is a veteran educator, business executive, and consultant.  He is currently Dean of the School of Business at Dean College where he oversees all aspects of the College’s associate and baccalaureate programs in the School of Business.  Prior to his current position, Dr. Cuomo served as Dean of the Girard School of Business and International Commerce at Merrimack College.  In that position, he was responsible for all academic, fiscal, operational and administrative functions of the School.

In addition to his academic experience, Dr. Cuomo has had a distinguished career in business serving as Principal at Global Insight in Lexington, where he directed studies and developed business models for clients in the financial services and energy industries.  He formerly served as Chief Economist for Boston Edison Company (now known as NSTAR) and as a senior economist at the Mitre Corporation in Bedford MA.

P. Gerard Shaw, Ph. D

Dr. Shaw has been at Dean for 17 years and has spent his career working with higher education. Prior to earning a Ph.D. at Boston College, he earned a MA in Theology, an MS in Human Resources, and a BS in Accounting. His career has included serving as a Vice President of Student Affairs, working as a consultant in the Higher Education Consulting practice at Coopers & Lybrand, and co-founding his own consulting practice. Believing that service to the community is vital, Dr. Shaw has served on the Board of Directors for the Hockomock Area YMCA, the Development Committee at the Providence Country Day School, and taught CCD in his local parish.  Dr. Shaw teaches a variety of courses in the School of Business and is the Director of the Dean Leadership Institute 

Paula Kelly

Paula Kelly is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA from Providence College and has been teaching as a professionally qualified adjunct faculty member at Northeastern University. Her industry experience has been in the General and Corporate Accounting functions. As Director of Corporate Accounting for Dunkin Donuts Inc., she was responsible for managing the corporate budget process and budget reviews, researching financial reporting requirements under GAAP, preparation of interim and annual financial statements, and overseeing the external audit of the financial statements.

 Her public accounting experience includes compilations, reviews, audits, and taxes for small and medium sized regional public accounting firms. These positions involved providing services to small to medium sized privately held businesses in reviewing accounting policies, internal control procedures, and financial reporting processes. Further work included compiling, reviewing, and auditing financial statements as required by clients. She is currently a consultant to several accounting firms.

Alan Adams

During over 35 years in business, Alan Adams (Bryant College MBA, 1982) has held many positions in large- and medium-sized industry, including Treasurer, Controller, Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer, and Owner/Director.

In 1988 he founded a Biomedical Manufacturing company in the Metro West area which experienced many years of rapid, sustained growth and above-industry-average profits through internal development and acquisitions. 

Now in semi-retirement after selling his own company to a large acquisition group, Alan is turning his attention to many areas including teaching at Dean College, writing, investing, music, consulting for startup entrepreneurs (including three technology ventures) and lecturing.  He is also a former Martial Arts instructor, and a Notary Public for the Commonwealth. 

Recently Alan served on State Senator Bruce Tarr’s advisory committee sponsoring legislation for a major Massachusetts safety initiative, and remains an advocate for this effort.

He is currently the President of his own consulting services company, and has served on the Boards of Directors/Advisors of several Massachusetts companies.

Brian Coughlin: Professor Coughlin has experience in human resource management. He currently owns Coughlin Consulting and teaches the Economics courses at Dean.

Jeffrey Isaacson: For the past 27 years, Professor Isaacson has been on the Southeast Legal Counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. In this position he has supervised legal office staff consisting of two other attorneys and two paralegals. Professor Isaacson teaches Statistical Analysis and Decision Making and Quantitative Analysis.

Jerome Moynihan: Professor Moynihan has over 30 years of experience in financial analysis and management. His positions have included Administrator of Purchasing Systems, Purchasing Agent/Property Manager, and Treasurer/Purchasing agent. He teaches Principles of Finance and Budgeting and Economics.

Hank Sennott: Professor Sennot has worked in business and communications/marketing for more than 30 years. He has been the Vice President for United Way of Rhode Island and Director of External Relations and Communications for the North American division for one of the world's largest renewable energy companies. Professor Sennott teaches the Marketing course.
