The B.A. in Arts Management program features a well-rounded curriculum including management, technical and performance studies as well as in-depth coursework in various aspects of the arts including business, communications and media arts, dance, and theatre management. As the college and its performing arts programs have grown, students have expressed interest in the management aspects of arts and entertainment enterprises. The skills needed to pursue successful careers in arts management are the foundation of the new program which responds to the growth in the arts and entertainment employment trend in New England and nationally. Additionally, the new degree program responds to students and Dean graduates in related performance disciplines who have indicated a desire to earn a baccalaureate degree at Dean. |

According to President Rooney, such requests have been initiated by students desiring to couple current performance and technical studies with upper level management course work that will enhance their skills and increase career opportunities upon graduation.
The addition of the B.A. in Arts Management is anticipated to address growing interest in the field. Dean College offered the first four-year degree in its history in 2000 when the B.A. in Dance was added to the curriculum. The B.A. in Arts Management will increase the number of options available to students currently engaged in a range of programs including Theatre, Dance, Communications, Liberal Studies and Business.
“The addition of the Arts Management baccalaureate program will result in a rich and challenging academic experience for students interested in pursuing the management side of arts and entertainment enterprises,” said Dr. Rooney.
