Annual Fund 2008
6/1/07  - 5/31/08

Thanks for responding to our Phonathon callers!

Give Now
Have an immediate impact on Dean College by making an Annual Fund gift, ensuring your company makes a matching gift, or establishing an Endowed Fund.

Annual Fund

Annual gifts provide a constant stream of flexible income that can make the difference between a good education and a great one. These funds support increased student aid, the purchase of books, equipment, technology, and academic and athletic programming.

Dean College’s annual giving program raises private gifts on behalf of the College’s academic departments and other major units such as Athletics, Library, and Student Development. Utilizing the annual phonathon, direct mail, and matching gift programs, gifts are solicited from alumni, parents, and friends of Dean College.

The process is simple!  Give online now by using our secure online donation form or give us a call on our toll-free line at 1-888-711-DEAN (3326) and make your donation by credit card.  All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  We accept VISA and MasterCard online, plus Discover and American Express by phone.

Matching Gifts

Personal gifts to educational institutions made by employees, retirees, and their family members may be matched by businesses and corporations.

How to make a matching gift contribution:
Gift Matching procedures can vary from company to company. The following example is typical:
•   An employee gets a matching gift form from the employer, usually from the human resources department.
•   After completing the form, the employee sends it along with the donation to Dean College.
•   The College certifies on the form that it has received the gift and meets the company’s guidelines for receiving a matching gift or verifies via a secure web page of the company's foundation.
•   The College returns the form to the company.
•   The company verifies eligibility of the employee and gift recipient and sends a check to Dean College.

Contact your employer's human resource office for more information.

Endowed Gifts
Endowments create the foundation upon which colleges build lasting financial strength and ensure academic quality. Once in place, endowments provide permanent support for teaching and research, student aid, and an abundance of other academic programs and activities.

With a minimum $15,000 commitment, you can create an endowment that will bear your name – or the name of someone you wish to honor.  These dollars can support scholarships, equipment and software upgrades, and more. Distribution of funds follow a specific set of guidelines formulated by Dean College in conjunction with you, the donor.

Special programs have specific endowment requirements, such as Named Scholarships ($50,000 minimum) or
Endowed Chairs ($1 million minimum).

Multi-year pledge payment schedules can be arranged.

Questions About Giving

Does my gift really make a difference?
Yes, every gift makes a difference.  In addition to maintaining and improving facilities, equipment, and technology at the College, the Annual Fund supports student financial aid and scholarships.

Why does Dean need my support?
Three quarters of the current students on our campus receive support from Dean through financial aid and /or scholarships.  As the number of donors and dollars increases, more aid becomes available for our outstanding students.  Your support can help qualified students who, without your help, would not be able to afford a Dean College education.

What are Dean’s highest priorities for giving?
The Annual Fund, which supports the areas of greatest need at Dean including scholarships, student financial aid, equipment, technology, programs, faculty development and facilities, is the College’s highest priority for annual giving, and it is the simplest and most direct way alumni, parents, and friends can have the greatest impact on today’s Dean students.

Dean’s priorities also include scholarships or naming opportunities.

What are the tax benefits of giving to Dean College?
Dean College is a non-profit, independent institution, recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS. Every gift to Dean is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Each gift is acknowledged with a letter of receipt to keep for your records.

When is Dean’s fiscal year?
Dean’s fiscal year starts on June 1 and ends on May 31.  We are currently in fiscal year FY08.
