2012 Pre-season Preview

Pitching and defense will be the key to the Bulldogs season, as they prepare for 2012.  Returning all conference pitcher and co-captain CC Rogers will be counted on heavily to provide the bulk of the innings needed.   “She is a strong individual”, says Head Coach John Jackson, “and she will have to carry us on her back this year.”  CC will also bat third or fourth in the lineup, which includes some strong hitters.  Returning all-conference player and co-captain Alyssa Krause will probably move to the infield this year and bat second or third, to take advantage of her athletic ability.  Newcomers Jessica Gelbman and Haley Lyon will also work out in the infield, as Jackson looks to find the right combination.  Freshman Hayley Davidson will do the bulk of the catching and will bat in the middle of the lineup. 

Freshmen AlisonWalsh and Sophomore Lindsay Boyles will provide speed on the bases, along with Krause.  Freshmen Ashleigh Ridge and Danica Sommer are strong athletes that will provide flexibility in the lineup, as they will be looked upon to play multiple positions.

“It will take us a little while to find the right balance on defense”, says Jackson, “as some players are being asked to play positions they may not have played before”.  “Offensively, we will need to score runs, which I believe we have the ability to do with the athletes we have”.  “I look forward to an exciting year”.
