Dean Leadership Institute
The Dean Leadership Institute at Dean College is a unique, multi-faceted program designed to meet the needs of leaders of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Featuring lectures and workshops delivered by internationally recognized CEOs and other leaders, the Institute provides professional development opportunities for all levels of organizational leadership.
Featured Speaker: James Roosevelt, Jr., President and CEO of Tufts Health Plan
Jim will speak to students about his career and government service. He is co-chair of the Rules Comm. for the Democratic National Committee (he is the person who told Florida their vote didn’t count). He is also the co-chair of the Obama transition team for Social Security and Medicare. He may also share some stories about his grandparents, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
The Dean Leadership Institute (DLI) has hosted other internationally-known speakers including Dr. Ralph de la Torre, President and CEO of Caritas Christi Health Care in 2009, Anne Finucane, Chief Marketing Officer at Bank of America in 2008, Bill Green '74, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accenture in 2007; and Alan Bernon, President of Dean Foods Dairy Group in 2006.
DLI was created to both address the needs of regional business leaders, and to bring respected speakers to Dean's business students. Each year DLI speakers meet with Dean students, giving them real-world information and insight into the leadership of global organizations.
DLI has expanded to include a week-long series of lectures and discussions in the spring. The "Business Week" presentations feature regional business leaders, and the week ends with a panel discussion of the presentations and a significant business publication.
