• An Innovative Dance and Language Study Abroad Experience

    • Each Spring Semester
    • Spring 2020 Program Dates: January – May, 2019 
      • Arrival and Move-In Day: Tuesday, January 21, 2020  
      • Orientation: January 22 - 26, 2020  
      • Classes: January 27 – May 29, 2020 
      • Departure: May 31, 2020 


    • A Spanish language and dance technique immersion program for college credits
    • Dance courses offered through the DanceAbroad Dance Studios in Buenos Aires
    • Spanish classes offered through the University of Buenos Aires Extension School
    • Academic credit offered by Dean College


    Currently enrolled college students who:

    • Are studying dance (majors, minors)
    • Have completed at least 45 credits prior to participating in the program
    • Have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.000
    • Are in good judicial standing
    • Meet the minimum required dance competency level (Ballet 2, Modern Foundations 2, Jazz 2)


    • Program minimum:  6 students
    • Program Maximum:  12 students


    • A 15-credit semester
    • Spanish Language Course (4 credits): precise course determined after placement testing upon arrival, ranging from beginning to advanced Spanish
    • History of Tango (3 credits)
    • Dance Technique (8 credits) -- ballet, modern, jazz, tango, dance composition/choreography, pointe*, partnering*
      *Faculty approval needed


    • Private rooms for area international university students
    • Will shop/cook on your own

    Cultural Excursions

    Course-related trips within and outside of Buenos Aires are included as part of the program.

    • For current Dean College Students: Full Financial Aid Package will apply 
    • For other college students:
      • Federal Financial Aid transferred via Consortium Agreement
      • Additional institutional scholarships available
    • Dean will deposit board into your checking account for your food costs. 
      Airfare to/from Buenos Aires and personal spending/travel money are additional, and the responsibility of the student/family.

    Passport & Visa Requirements

    • Need a current passport that will not expire before June 2021 
    • Tourist Visa, obtained as you enter the country
    • Non-US citizens: check directly with the Argentinian Consulate regarding any additional visa requirements

    Application Process/Timeline

    • Complete application (form, short essay, faculty letter of recommendation, official transcript, Dean of Student report, scanned copy of U.S. passport)                
    • Submit application no later than Friday October 4, 2019 to Melissa Read, Assistant VP, Academic Affairs and Study Away Program Director (; Dean Hall, Room 203; 508-541-1654)
    • Pay program enrollment deposit of $1,000 by November 15, 2019
    • Participate in on-line pre-departure orientation meeting to complete and sign all required pre-departure paperwork
