  • 6 Fun Local Activities to Have the Best Summer Ever

    Summer is officially here! School is out, the weather is nice, and it’s time to relax for a few weeks! Franklin is the perfect place to have fun in the sun offering a variety of different activities to be outside, relax and shop!

    Check-out our list of 6 local must-do summer activities to have the best summer ever!

    1. Enjoy the sun at Beaver Pond. Located just down the street from Dean, Beaver Pond is a great area for a picnic, a walk along the water, or to lay-out on the beach and read a good book.

    2. Take a trip into Boston. We’re lucky our campus is located just a few steps away from the commuter rail which provides quick and easy access into Boston. Boston is the perfect place to take a day trip with friends in the summertime.     3. Shop til’ you drop. There are plenty of shopping centers near Dean College. Franklin is home to a variety of cute boutique stores such as Pretty in Pink, Franklin Mill Store and Silver Tree Jewelry! If you’re looking for a large shopping center, the Wrentham Outlets are only 5 minutes away and offer over 170 brand name stores ranging from high end luxury to family friendly store such as Vera Bradley, The Loft, Yankee Candle, The Nike Outlet, and more!

    4. Get Fit by the Field. Visit our partners over at Gillette Stadium for a free fitness series all June and July. Hosted on Monday’s and Tuesday’s the free fitness series includes yoga, Zumba, and kickboxing classes, as well as BMAX, the official workout of the Patriots Cheerleaders. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay a few bucks, Rev’d Indoor Cycling offers special cycling classes outside overlooking Gillette Stadium. For a full schedule, click here!

    5. Catch a show at The Black Box. The Black Box is a theater and event venue that doubles as the home of the Franklin Performing Arts Company. They have theatre, dance and concert events happening all summer long. For a schedule of their events and to buy tickets, click here!

    6. Support local businesses at the Franklin Farmers’ Market. Every Friday from 12pm-6pm until October 27th local businesses from around New England gather in the Franklin Common selling a variety of products.
