Boston is the perfect place to take a day trip on the weekend with friends for a fun day of shopping, to learn more about the rich history of the city, or to just explore.

    1. Walk the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is 2.5 miles of historic sites starting in the Boston Common and passing through places such as The Massachusetts State House, Old South Meeting House, Boston Massacre Monument, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere’s House, and more!

    2. Catch a Red Sox Game. Boston is home to America’s most beloved ballpark, Fenway! Catch a game during the season (April-October) or if you’re visiting during the off-season, book a behind-the-scenes tour where you can sit in the Green Monster and learn more about the Red Sox history.

    3. Take a Duck Tour. Take the ultimate sightseeing tour of Boston through the Boston Duck Tours. The tours depart from multiple locations around the city and will give you a great overview of the city including stops at TD Garden, Boston Common, Newbury Street, Quincy Market and more. Then, you journey off land and into the Charles River for breathtaking views of the Boston and Cambridge skylines!

    4. Visit the Lawn on D. The Lawn on D is a 2.7-acre interactive outdoor space located in South Boston. The Lawn provides a colorful collection of public seating and lounge chairs, interactive art exhibitions, and assorted lawn games. On the weekends, The Lawn on D often hosts fun and free events such as cornhole tournaments, live music, outdoor movie screenings and more!

    5. Walk the Boston Harbor. The Boston Harborwalk is a near-continuous, 43-mile linear park along Boston’s shoreline. The Harborwalk connects visitors to over forty parks, a dozen museums, seven beaches and hundreds of restaurants and stores. It’s a perfect activity for a sunny day!

    6. Visit a Museum. There are numerous museums in Boston focusing on a variety of different subjects. If you’re interested in art, take a day-trip into Boston and explore the Museum of Fine Arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Harvard University Art Museums, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and more! Or if you’re more interested in science or history, check-out the Museum of Science, Harvard Museum of Natural History, or the Peabody Essex Museum. While all of these museums charge an admission fee, some of them have certain days and times of the week where they offer free admission, so make sure to check their websites when you’re planning a visit!
