The most glorious day of the year is finally here, National Donut Day!

National Donut Day was first celebrated in 1938 as a fund raiser for The Salvation Army. Now, it’s celebrated nationwide on the first Friday of every June with stores often offering free or discounted donuts all day!

This is the one day of the year where it’s socially acceptable to eat as many donuts as you can get your hands on, so dough-not miss out on visiting Boomer's 5 favorite local donut shops!

    1. The Cake Bar. Located just a few steps from the Dean College campus, The Cake Bar serves fresh homemade donuts every Saturday.

    2. Donut Star. Offering homemade donuts daily, Donut Star is a family run restaurant located about a half-hour from Dean College. They offer traditional style donuts such as jelly and chocolate frosted but also offer other delicious treats such as their famous apple fritters.

    3. Dunkin Donuts. You can never go wrong with a free donut! That’s right, Dunkin Donuts is giving out a free donut with the purchase of any beverage all day!

    4. Elizabeth’s Bagels. Do you prefer a different kind of dough treat? If so, head down the street to Elizabeth’s Bagels to get your dough fix. They offer over 15 different bagel flavors, and a large variety of cream cheese flavors too!

    5. Country Kitchen Donuts. This donut shop has been in business for over 50 years and for good reason. Country Kitchen Donuts bakes all of their donuts on the premises daily including classic flavors such as jelly, chocolate covered and cruller-style donuts.
