    Lisa Cropper World Cup

Dean College field hockey head coach Lisa Cropper recently represented the United States when she took part in the Exin Masters Field Hockey World Cup just outside Barcelona. The tournament featured 135 teams representing more than ten countries with both men's and women's teams in age groups from 35 to 60.

Playing in the Over-55 group alongside three former Olympians, Cropper, a midfielder, and her Team USA teammates finished pool play at 2-2-1. They recorded victories over Wales (3-1) on Saturday, July 28 and Canada (1-0) on Friday, August 3, but their loss to Australia (2-0) on Tuesday, July 31 and tie with New Zealand (0-0) on Wednesday, August 1 eliminated them from medal contention.

"This is my third WC, and each one has been very unique," said Cropper. "But the camaraderie, festive atmosphere, and sportsmanship amongst all the teams is always tremendous. I believe that is what keeps me coming back, and has helped it grow so big so fast."

In 2014, she was a member of the USA Field Hockey master's team that took bronze in the World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Cropper was a three-time All-American and member of the University of Connecticut's 1981 national championship as an undergraduate.

She also has extensive coaching experience, most recently serving as the head field hockey coach at Franklin High, where she won four Hockomock League titles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016) and was named the league's coach of the year in 2013.

With the Dean, she is leading a program that will play for the first time since 1997. Cropper's student-athletes report for fall camp on Monday, August 20. Their first contest with be on Friday, August 31 at 12:00 PM against Rivier University.
