Shannon found her internship after the owner of the academy visited one of her classes at Dean as a guest speaker and mentioned internship opportunities that she had available. During her internship, Shannon worked with kids of all ages and abilities to form dance classes, organized dance camps for younger kids, and taught the advanced students. Her internship with Unique Steps has been an incredibly valuable learning experience about teaching dance specifically to younger kids and dancers of all abilities.

“During my internship, I have learned the importance of time management as well as having a good attitude. When working with kids you have to put in the energy that you want your students to have. I have also learned that it is important to learn how to teach kids in a way that they can understand and are also being challenged.” – Shannon W., ’19.
