    Veterans Day 2017

The Dean College Veterans Day Ceremony was held on Friday, November 10, 2017 outside at the War Memorial on campus. This year's ceremony coincided with Discover Dean Day, a full day open house program.

President Paula Rooney called the event to order, asking the audience to reflect and thank our nation’s veterans for sacrificing themselves to protect our freedom. Following a student performance of The National Anthem, Dr. Rooney delivered remarks, noting the importance of November 11th as a day to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. "Every day we talk about The Dean Difference, today, let us all remember the difference these men and women are making in the world, the sacrifices they are making so that we can pursue our dreams."

Guest speaker Cynthia Shelton Harris, an accomplished and decorated Veteran and the newly appointed Veteran Service Agent for the Town of Braintree Department of Veterans told the crowd, “President Lincoln once said to care for those who have borne the battle. My duty is to bring to life his words every day in some way, but sometimes the battle is not always war, sometimes it is resiliency or to do what you believe in."

Following the remarks, guests were asked to reflect on each conflict as roses representing each were placed on a single wreath in honor of our veterans.

Dean College is proud of all who have served our Nation. We cannot thank you enough for all that you have done.
