  • Dean College Hosts Annual Tree Lighting

    Tree Lighting 2017

On Thursday, December 7th, 2017 Dean College kicked-off the Franklin Downtown Partnership Holiday Stroll with the lighting of the tree on Awpie Way.

The Dean College community and residents from the town of Franklin all gathered on Awpie Way to listen to music, enjoy each other’s company, sip on some hot chocolate and officially welcome the holiday season!

The celebration began with an acapella performance of some classic holiday songs such as Silent Night and White Winter Hymnal by the student group, Not Your Forte. Their performance was followed by a dance number from the on-campus tap team, Loose Screws.

Just before the lighting, the freshman theatre group took the stage to perform some fan favorite carols including Deck the Halls, Joy to the World and Jingle Bells. After a few songs, Boomer joined the carolers for the official countdown to the lighting.

With the tree shining bright and the carolers continuing to sing, the celebration continued down Main Street where everyone could enjoy more entertainment, gift shopping, crafts, and gingerbread cookies. Santa Claus and his elves were even in attendance!

Dean College has energized campus life through traditions, ranging from The Holiday Tree Lighting to Commencement that connect current students with the College’s rich history. We pride ourselves on these traditions and look forward to sharing them with our new students each year. Click here for more information on Dean College traditions.
