      Breaking News - Dean College Men's Basketball Team Falls 92-79 in Their Final National Game

      The Dean College Men's Basketball team lost to St. Louis Community college 92-79 in the consolation round of the NJCAA National Tournament.  Visit www.njcaa.org for final results.

      Dean College Part of Franklin Harvest Festival, Sunday, October 5, 2014Dean College

      On Sunday, October 5th, the Harvest Festival will take over downtown Franklin!

      Organized by the Franklin Downtown Partnership, this festival includes over 100 crafters and vendors, live entertainment, music, museum tours and more! This event runs from 11am to 4pm, rain or shine, and Dean College will be taking part in the fun. Come check us out at our booth!

      Dean College Fall Athletics participated in five games during the weekend of September 26th, coming out on top in a majority of the matches.

      Dean College football traveled all the way to Louisburg, NC to take on Louisburg College in a live-streamed event. The Bulldogs trounced the Canes, shutting them out 21-0. Dean got on the scoreboard early in the game with a 10-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter it was a 14-yard touchdown pass that put them ahead 14-0. Just before the half ended it was a 47-yard pass that finished out the scoring for the day. At the end of the first half of play, the score was 21-0 and it remained that way throughout the 2nd half as neither team could come up with a big scoring play. The Bulldogs will play ASA in Brooklyn, NY on October 4 at noon.

      The Men's and Women's Soccer teams also took on some fierce competition this weekend. On Saturday, the men played Holyoke, scoring 4 goals in the first half of the game and ending the game with an impressive 6-0 shutout. The Bulldogs also took on Mercer County Community College at Longley Field on Sunday, September 28, losing the tough match 2-1 in overtime.

      Women’s Soccer took on Mercer County on Saturday and Sussex County on Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs lost their tough game against Mercer County 3-0 and won their game vs. Sussex County, 1-0.

      The Dean College football team awarded Tyree Holmes, a sophomore linebacker from Landover, MD, the Butchie Williams Award, which is given annually to the most valuable player in the Family Day game. Holmes had 2 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles and 2 quarterback hurries in Saturday’s game against Hudson Valley Community College.

      Both Dean College soccer teams won and the football team lost its first game of the season at Family & Alumni Day on September, 20, 2014.

      The Dean College soccer teams both won their matches, highlighting a great day at Longley Field during Family & Alumni Day. The men defeated Bridgton 4-0 while the women beat Bunker Hill by the same score. The football team went down to defeat 18-14 to Hudson Valley CC, their first loss of the season.

      Dean Football Player Named NJCAA National Player of the Week

       Dean College freshman, Derril Thomas, was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week for the week of September 14th, 2014.

      The NJCAA national office announced Wednesday Dean freshman return specialist Derril Thomas was named the special teams player of the week. Thomas, a 5-11,171-pound freshman from Ashburn, Virginia/Broad Run, returned four punts,including one for a 59-yard touchdown, in the Bulldogs' 35-6 win over the Globe Institute of Technology. He had 122 return yards in the contest.

      Thomas was joined on the NJCAA player of the week listing by Hutchinson freshman wide receiver, Juwan Dickey, and Ellsworth sophomore linebacker, Angelo Sumler.
