Dean College will welcome the 151st incoming
class to campus with the First Year Convocation ceremony on Tuesday, September
First Year Convocation is a Dean College tradition that
welcomes freshmen to the Dean community. All freshmen attend this formal
college induction ceremony headed by Dean College President Paula M. Rooney,
college deans and other faculty and staff.
Dean Children’s Center will host an Exploration Open House
on September 4, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Parents of children 2 years
old to 6 years are encouraged to bring their child to explore the school and
learn about our program. Applications are being accepted for 5-day morning,
2-day morning, 3-day morning preschool programs or 4-day Pre-K program.
Preschool begins on September 14, 2015.
Innovative and progressive, the school is NAEYC accredited
and well known in the community for an inspiring preschool experience. Dean
Children’s Center is a lab school for ECE majors, with teachers-in-training
alongside credentialed teachers. The center has a very professional and caring
environment, using a developmental approach to education which reflects current
research in child development and peer conflict resolution. “We are a regional
resource to parents and educators on peer conflict resolution in young children
and our lab school uses best practices in early education of children,” said
Faith Nickolas, Director of the Children’s Center.

Beginning Thursday, September 3, students from around the
world will be arriving on campus to kick off the 2015-16 academic year!
Friday, September 4, 2015 marks the beginning of International
Student Orientation (ISO) and Arch Orientation. ISO offers an opportunity
for international students to become acquainted with Dean and the surrounding
areas and Arch Orientation allows those participating in the Arch program to
become better acquainted with others in the program.
On Monday, September 7, the remaining new and returning
students will move in and/or check-in to Dean College. Times and locations for
check-in vary depending on a variety of factors, so be sure to check out the Move-In
Day web page for all information. If you are moving in to a residence hall
for the first time, you will also find some tips on what to bring and what not
to bring to college.
Accepted and deposited students are invited and encouraged
to attend a New Student Orientation (NSO) session to become more acquainted
with Dean College and all that we have to offer.
The final one-day NSO of the Summer will be held on Friday,
August 21, 2015.

The 19th Annual Dean College President’s Cup Golf Tournament will take place
on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Franklin Country Club. All proceeds from this
event will benefit the Dean College Scholarship Fund.
Throughout the past 18 years, the Dean College President’s
Cup Golf Tournament has had a profound and positive effect on the education of
Dean College students. Support from players and sponsors has helped the College
raise more than $1,000,000 for Dean College scholarships and these scholarships
have helped hundreds of students over the years. By sponsoring or playing in
this event, you could help a prospective student attend Dean College.
