In less than one week, the Dean College men’s basketball team will play its first-ever game at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
The Bulldogs defeated Monroe Community College this past Saturday, 99-89, to capture their first NJCAA District II Championship. Dean will face Essex County College (Newark, NJ) in game four of the tournament at 3:00 p.m. CST on March 18 at Danville Area Community College in Illinois. The tournament committee seeded the top eight teams, and a blind draw with the remaining eight teams was used to determine the first-round matchups.

The Dean College men's lacrosse team defeated Tompkins-Cortland Community College, 22-10, this past weekend to open up their 2014 season.
The baseball team won their season opener over Spoon River Community College, 15-0, followed by a 3-2 victory over Sauk Valley Community College.

Dean College men’s basketball team defeated Monroe Community College on
Saturday, 99-89, to capture their first NJCAA District 2 Championship. They now advance to the NJCAA National Tournament
for the first time and will travel to Danville, Illinois next week to compete
for a national title. The sixteen team
tournament begins on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 and the championship game
concludes on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
built a 55-36 lead at halftime on the hot shooting of Antonio Pires (Carver,
MA), who scored 12 points, all from behind the 3-point arc. Joe Clarke (New Rochelle, NY) led all Dean
scorers with 19 points, including going 11-12 from the foul line. Jamal Reuben (Brockton, MA) had key baskets
down the stretch with 17 points, including 3 long range 3-pointers, and also
played excellent defense with 4 steals.
Overall, Dean had five players in double figures and raised their season
record to 21-3 heading into the nationals.

women lost a tough game to Essex County College (Newark, NJ), 63-56, as a four
point halftime lead evaporated at the ten-minute mark of the second half and
the Bulldogs were forced to play catch up the rest of the way. Dean’s second leading scorer, Vanessa Sylvain
(Brockton, MA), went down early in the second half with a game ending ankle
injury and starting point guard Victoria Nguyen (Woburn, MA) was in foul
trouble all game. Dean only scored 23
points in the second half without two key cogs to their offense. The Lady Bulldogs finished one of their best
seasons at 17-6 and their first Region XXI title since 2002.

Dean College Basketball Advances to NJCAA National Tournament
The Dean College Men's Basketball team defeated Monroe CC 99-89 on Saturday to advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. Congratulations to Coach Fazzi and the Bulldogs!
The Dean College Basketball teams made college history this past weekend capturing Region XXI Championships in the same year.
Join the Bulldogs this Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Pieri Gymnasium where the men's team will take on Monroe Community College at 12:00 noon, followed by the women's game at 2:00 p.m. vs. Essex County College.
The winner of the men's game will advance to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois on March 18-23, 2014. The winner of the women's game will advance to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Johnson Community College, March 18-22, 2014.
