Modern Momentum is a two-day dance event with performances by Dean students and master classes led by nationally renowned male choreographers. This year's guest choreographers include Jamal Story, Kameron Bink, Abdur Jackson, and Derek Mitchell. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from these outstanding performers who have danced with Alvin Ailey, choreographed for the stars, and advanced to become a top ten finalist on the hit show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Guest Choreographers
Kameron Bink
Currently a company member of The Bad Boys of Dance and recently off the 2007 So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour, Kameron Bink is a HipHop/Contemporary dancer/teacher. In addition to being a "So You Think You Can Dance" top ten finalist, he has performed on the National Network Television station Univision for the Latin Music awards, with artist such as Daddy Yankee, Frankie J, Shakira, Ivy Queen, Don Omar, Paulina Rubio, Olga Tano, Alejandro Sanz, and Mariana Seoana. He has performed with National Recording Artists Marques Houston, Omarion and world renowned producer Timberland. Kameron has appeared in the Latin Grammy's 2006 dancing with Aventura and Olga Tanon, performed at Univision Premio to Nuestro 2007, and in Rome Italy with Latin Artist Ana Mor in April of 2007. Al Blackstone
Al Blackstone is a New York City-based dance maker, performer, and educator and the recipient of the 2011 Capezio A.C.E. Award for Choreographic Excellence. While working mostly in musical theatre, his passion for contemporary and jazz dance enriches his unique approach to storytelling. He is proud to have shared this point of view with hundreds of dancers at studios and conservatories acrossthe country. Al most recently choreographed the solos performed on So You Think You Can Dance by Season 8 finalist Jess Leprotto. Additionally, his choreography has been seen on cast members of Broadway's The Lion King for "Defying Inequality, A Broadway Benefit" and on Wicked cast member Nova Bergeron for "BC Beat: A Broadway Connection Industry Night". Favorite performing credits include Wicked (Broadway and 1st National Tour), Carousel (Barrington Stages), NBC's American Dreams, and TLC's Trading Spaces. He is currently on faculty at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City.
Kelby Brown
Kelby began his professional dance and entertainment career at a young age, parlayed his experiences into choreography and teaching both nationally and internationally, and has performed with some of the biggest stars in entertainment including Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Usher. He choreographed the feature film "Spring Breakdown" starring Parker Posey and “Saturday Night Live” stars Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch. His outstanding dance accomplishments include roles with Ballet Chicago, State Ballet of Missouri, Hartford Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet Company and the Metropolitan Opera in Lincoln Center. He also danced a principal role in Los Angeles Opera's production of a Merry Widow, and as the "Oiseau" in Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas production of "Mystere". The biggest highlight of his career came when he was asked to be a charter member of Celine Dion's highly acclaimed Las Vegas production of "A New Day", where he worked with Director Franco Dragone and choreographer Mia Michaels. He can be seen in feature films “The Dance Flick” and “Transformers 2” and on television’s “So You Think You Can Dance (dancing alongside Lady Gaga), “Gossip Girl”, and the hit HBO series “Weeds”.
Derek Mitchell
Derek Mitchell has taught master classes all over the world and currently teaches Street Jazz and Contemporary Lyrical Jazz in NYC at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Peridance Capezio Center. In 2009 and 2010 Derek choreographed six Contemporary duets for “So You Think You Can Dance” in the Ukraine and returned in 2011 to choreograph a group routine as well as four more duets. Derek also collaborated with Elle Magazine’s creative director Joe Zee in styling Justin Timberlake and his dancers for Nickelodeon, Cameron Diaz, Hilary Swank, Britney Spears, JC Chasez, Kelis, Mary J. Blige and dancers for Gap and most notably Madonna and Missy Elliot’s dancers in their infamous 2004 Gap commercial. He also choreographed Automatic Superstar-a rock opera, performed with Lindsay Lohan on “Saturday Night Live,” choreographed for the Steps Ensemble, BDC Teen ensemble, The BDC 25th Anniversary Gala and choreographed and performed in an industrial for Pepsi Co.
