      John Rooke Named Director of The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management at Dean College

      Dean College, a private, residential college located in Franklin, Mass., welcomed John Rooke as director of The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management and Distinguished Executive Faculty in the Schools of Business and the Arts.

      The Center was created by Dean College as an academic partnership with the Kraft Sports Group (KSG). It will provide opportunities for students to gain insight from KSG officials, including executives of the New England Patriots, New England Revolution and Patriot Place.

      "I'm thrilled to be a part of this initiative at Dean College,” said Rooke. “I am looking forward to working with the students to provide new educational experiences through our relationship with the Kraft Sports Group, including the Patriots and the Revolution. The students at Dean will be the real winners here.  It's a chance to learn from professionals in the sports and entertainment industries."

      Rooke is an award-winning broadcaster and a member of the 2011 class for the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame. He has more than 30 years of electronic, print and new media experience in large and small markets as well as at the network level. For the past 26 years, he has served as the play-by-play voice for Providence College basketball. Additionally, he has served as the public address announcer for the New England Patriots for the past 22 seasons. Rooke also serves as a featured columnist for Patriots.com and WEEI.com and has authored a book on the history of radio in Rhode Island entitled "Rhode Island Radio" (Arcadia Publishing, 2012).

      A 1981 journalism graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rooke has held a position as adjunct professor at Emerson College in Boston. He has been named one of the top sports broadcasting instructors in the country by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America. Rooke also serves as a commercial voice artist and an auctioneer.

      On Saturday, October 1, 2016, Dean College will host its Family & Alumni Day. Our schedule is full of activities— campus tours, Open Houses with different Schools, Alumni Men’s Lacrosse and Baseball games, a Game Day cookout during the football and soccer games, Arch Alumni Celebration and the Dean Showcase. We will also be having a 21+ beverage tent down at the Longley Athletic Fields Complex. As you can see, there will be plenty to do for kids and adults alike!

      Dean College Ranks Among the Top Best Regional Colleges

      Dean College Ranks Among the Top Best Regional Colleges

      Franklin, MA (September 13, 2016) –Dean College, a private, residential college located in Franklin, Massachusetts, has been ranked 19th in the U.S. News & World Report for the Best Regional Colleges, North category. Additionally, Dean placed 9th in this category for Best Value Schools. 
       
      This is the sixth consecutive year that Dean College has received the honor, and the highest ranking in the college’s history.
       
      “We are thrilled to be recognized by U.S. News and our peer institutions once again this year,” said Dr. Paula M. Rooney, Dean College President. “Of particular note this year is our designation in the Best Value Schools category, as we continually look for ways to assist our students achieve their education goals with the best financial aid solutions possible.”
       
      U.S. News & World Report is a multi-platform, publisher of news and information. The U.S. News ranking system for the Best Regional Colleges rests on two pillars. The formula uses quantitative measures that education experts have proposed as reliable indicators of academic quality, and it is based on research of what matters in education, including: graduation rate performance, academic reputation, and financial selectivity among others. 
       
      This year’s ranking is a testament to The Dean Difference – the hands-on and engaging faculty & staff, strong academic support, valuable internships, and real life workforce preparation that Dean College provides. The College recently welcomed a robust class of incoming students, making this its highest total enrollment in the past 25 years, representing 30 states and 26 countries.

      Saturday with Dean, September 24, 2016

      Our goal is to provide prospective students and their families as many opportunities to visit Dean College as possible.

      If you can't join us for a weekday visit, we hope that you'll spend part of your Saturday with us.

      On select Saturdays, we welcome you to visit Dean for an information session and campus tour. The information session, conducted by an admissions staff member, is followed by a campus tour given by a current Dean student. Your visit ends with lunch in our dining center. Other members of the admissions staff will also be on hand to answer all of your questions.

      The day begins at 10:00 AM and families should expect to spend about two hours on campus.

      Dean College to Host 20th Annual President's Cup Golf Tournament, September 19, 2016

      The 20th Annual Dean College President’s Cup Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Franklin Country Club. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Dean College Scholarship Fund.

      Throughout the past 19 years, the Dean College President’s Cup Golf Tournament has had a profound and positive effect on the education of Dean College students. Support from our players and sponsors has helped us raise more than $1,000,000 for the Dean College Scholarship Fund. Bysponsoring or playing in this event, you could help a handful of students attend Dean College.
