      January Move-In Information from Office of Residence Life

      New Student Check-In
      Monday, January 20th, 9am - 11am
      - Check-in for new students is scheduled from 9am-10am in the Campus Center. Students will need to be cleared prior to moving into their assigned residence halls or participating in orientation. Orientation check-in begins at 11:15am in the Campus Center.

      Returning Resident Student Check-In
      Monday, January 20th, 1pm - 4pm
      -Returning resident students who have not been cleared for direct check-In must go to the Campus Center to check-in. Once the student is cleared for check in they will receive their key from the Office of Residence Life in the Campus Center.
      -Returning resident students who have been cleared for direct check-in may pick up their keys at the designated locations based on their residence hall assignments.

      Early Arrival Groups
      There is a small number of students allowed to arrive early due to involvement in an approved Dean College activity. These students are contacted by a member of the staff to confirm they are permitted to arrive prior to official opening of the College. All students participating in these activities must be cleared in order to move in or participate with the group they are involved in. Below are the approved activities allowed to move in early for January 2014, as well as contact information for the person responsible for the group:

      Dean College Welcomes Former NASA Astronaut and Retired USN Commander, Susan Kilrain to Campus

      Dean College will host former NASA Astronaut and retired USN Commander, Susan Kilrain on campus March 5, 2014, as part of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences World of Ideas series.

      During her visit, Commander Susan Kilrain is scheduled to tour the campus and speak to students, faculty and staff about her experience as a two-time space shuttle pilot.  

      “We are excited to host Commander Kilrain as part of our new World of Ideas series,” said Dr. Dawn Poirier, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  “Students will have the opportunity to hear Commander Kilrain share her insights about the NASA program and the role that female astronauts have played in the history of the aerospace program in the United States.

      Commander Susan Kilrain flew as pilot on STS-83 (April 4-8, 1997) and STS-94 (July 1-17, 1997), and is one of only three women to ever pilot the shuttle.  She holds a Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and is the recipient of many military awards, including: Defense Superior Service Medal; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; and Navy Achievement Medal. Other awards include: NASA Space Flight Medals; Ten Outstanding Young Americans; and DAR Good Scout Award. 

      The World of Ideas is a year-long program initiative designed to offer students a glimpse into the multi-faceted nature of the liberal art and sciences.  Programming includes lectures and presentations by faculty as well as invited speakers and student run programs.  The goal is to offer opportunities for students to engage with limitless possibilities that are open to them through learning.

      Dean College Leadership In Action Series February 25, 2014

      The Dean College School of Business will host Gary LaPlante and Frederick Wheeler on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 as part of the Leadership in Action Series.  Featuring multiple presentations throughout each semester, this highly successful series offers Dean College students an exclusive opportunity to hear and interact with regional business leaders to learn more about what made them successful and gain valuable insights and contacts to help them launch their own careers.

      Gary LaPlante is the Assistant News Director at Fox 25 in Boston.  Frederick Wheeler is a Studio Technician for Fox 25 Morning News.  The presentation will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Alden Center Science Building on Campus.

      Dean College Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Defeat CCRI

      02/21/2014

      Both the men's and women's basketball teams defeated CCRI at Think Pink night Thursday, February 20, 2014.  The men won the opener 108-69 and the women took the nitecap 66-59.

      Thank you to all those who attended and dressed in pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness and our bulldogs!

      School of Dance Choreographers' Concert Friday, February 21, 2014

      In the spirit of “So, You Think You Can Dance,” “America’s Got Talent,” and other popular reality shows, the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance at Dean College presents Choreographers’ Concert for Dance Momentum weekend beginning this Friday, February 21, 2014, featuring Dean College dance students and renowned guest choreographer judges. The Choreographers’ Concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. in the Guidrey Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors/children and can be purchased on the website by visiting the event calendar or by calling 508-541-1605.
