Stage Combat Pre-College Program

  • Stage Combat

    July 10th– July 21st, 2017

    Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts

    Ages 16-18

    Registration is now closed.

Sure sword fighting is fun, but doing it safely for the stage and screen is serious business. In this class, students will learn to create illusions of violence. Special emphasis will be placed on the proper form and principles of safety essential to the safe and effective performance of single blade combat, unarmed combat, and quarterstaff combat. Under the tutelage of two master teachers in these forms, students will learn to create and perform choreographed combat sequences designed to dazzle the audience.

    Course Outline:

Instructed by Craig Handel and Jim Beauregard, with over twenty years of professional choreographic and teaching experience, students will be sure to receive an abundance of individual instruction. Both instructors have worked closely with established professionals including Academy Award and Tony Award winners and nominees.

These classes require a high degree of active participation; therefore, students should be in reasonably good shape in order to take full advantage of the course. Weapons will be provided. Students should dress for movement.
