What is a Community Advisor?

A community advisor (CA) at Dean College is someone who wants to become a  leader, wants to become involved in building a community, enforces and abides by the policies established on campus, and someone who wants to have fun and be a part of a team of highly motivated students.  A CA is also a person who holds a minimum GPA of a 2.0 and a full time student.  Community Advisors are assigned responsibility for working daily with students on an individual or group basis in a residence hall or area in order to effect a living environment conducive to individual growth and development within the academic community and perform other related duties as required. 

You are compensated with a bi-weekly paycheck of $200.00.  You are also living in a single room at the cost of a double room rate.  You also receive free things...T-shirts, sweatshirts, and bags galore- what more could you ask for?

While there are many nights when you are on duty, there are other opportunities that come along with being a CA...Who doesn’t like to play games, eat pizza and wings, laugh, and bond with people?  This is a chance of a lifetime.    All of this is attainable while you continue to learn how to be an effective leader, interact with administrators, be creative, and learn skills you never thought you had.
