Student Code of Conduct Policy

  • Students are Responsible for Knowing the Student Code of Conduct

    Generally, the College defines a violation of community standards to which a student may be held accountable as follows:

    • Violation of the Academic Honesty Policy, including but not limited to, cheating and plagiarism.

    • Abusive, threatening or dangerous behavior, including but not limited to fighting, physical abuse, verbal abuse, threatening statements or behavior, or any conduct which threatens the health, safety or well-being of any person or any aspect of the College community. This includes, but is not limited to, fighting or intent to instigate violence or abuse, intimidation and harassment.

    • Sexual Misconduct, including but not limited to sexual assault, abuse or harassment.

    • Damage to College, public or private property, including but not limited to, physical damage, improper disposal of trash and littering on College grounds.

    • Violation of the Alcohol Policy

    • Violation of the Drug Policy

    • Violation of the Housing Agreement or other residential life policies, including but not limited to:
       - Guest Policy
       - Noise or Quiet Hour Policy
       - Pet Policy
       - Trash Policy

    • Disorderly conduct, including but not limited to acts which breach the peace, and/or are lewd, indecent or obscene and/or intentional disruption or obstruction of teaching, research, administration, disciplinary procedures, other College activities or activities authorized to take place on College property.

    • Failure to comply with the directions of College, local, state or federal officials while in performance of their official duties. This shall include, but is not limited to, failure to give proper identification when requested.

    • Any violation of fire safety and security policies or procedures.

    • Acts of non-academic dishonesty, including, but not limited to, furnishing false information to any College, local, state or federal official.

    • Violation of a student or community member's rights or privileges, including but not limited to verbal or written harassment, abuse, hazing and/or disrespect to any person.

    • Violation of rules or policies governing the College or any aspect of its facilities, resources or services, including but not limited to:
       - Unauthorized altercation, fabrication or misuse of college identification card system
       - Unauthorized entry into or occupation of College facilities/buildings
       - Violation of Dining Services policies or regulations
       - Violation of Parking and Traffic Regulations
       - Violation of the Tobacco Free Policy

    • Violation of the Information Technology Policy and/or the Student Technology Use Policy, including but not limited to: sending, receiving, downloading, printing, or displaying pornographic, obscene, lewd, or sexually harassing, or otherwise offensive images or text. Sending email, instant messaging, texting, making phone calls or sending or facilitating the sending of any communication which is of a harassing, threatening, defamatory, intimidating, or obscene manner is also considered a violation of the Information Technology Policy.

    • Any violation of federal, state, or local law not otherwise covered by the Dean College Community Standards.

    • Implied Consent. This shall include, but is not limited to, all students in a room/area being held responsible for their behavior/objects in that room or area. Residents who are not observed participating in misbehavior on in possession of inappropriate items/objects, but are in the presence of a policy violation, can be held responsible. If a resident is not present when a policy violation is confronted in his or her room or apartment, he/she will be held responsible unless it can be clearly demonstrated that he/she had no knowledge of the violation.

    • General Conduct:
       - Students are expected to conduct themselves as responsible members of the College's community.
       - Students are expected to follow all College, Federal, State, local regulations, laws, and ordinances.
       - Students are expected to respect the rights of their fellow citizens.
       - Activities that may be considered a violation of Federal, State, or Local laws, regulations or ordinances whether occurring on or off campus are not permitted.
       - Students who knowingly protect, encourage, or fail to report violations by others may be held accountable.
