Dear Class of 2020 Graduates and Families,

Congratulations again on your 2020 graduation from Dean College. Thank you for your patience as we worked with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Town of Franklin on a safe and acceptable plan for your Commencement. I am happy to announce that we have officially received approval for an in-person outdoor Commencement ceremony.

Your Commencement Ceremony will be held in front of Dean Hall, along Awpie Way, on Saturday, May 8, 2021. We will notify you of the exact time for the ceremony by April 1, 2021. Attendees will be limited to graduates and two (2) family members per graduate. Regrettably, we cannot offer the opportunity to invite more than two guests per graduate. Livestream options will be available for graduates, family and friends who are unable to attend in person.

All members of the Class of 2020 must complete this form by March 30, 2021.

Please make note of the following necessary ceremony modifications per Commonwealth guidelines:
• All participants and family pods will be seated six feet apart.
• All present will be required to wear a face covering at all times.
• The name of each graduate, along with degree and honors, will be called and the graduate will cross the platform for a photo and recognition.
• There can be no communal gathering before or after the ceremony.
• Per state requirements, registration for in-person attendance will be required and virtual tickets, which include an attestation regarding COVID-19, will be required to enter Awpie Way for the ceremony.
• Tickets are limited to graduates and two (2) family members. Tickets are non-transferable.
• These plans are contingent on the continued approval from town and state officials about public gatherings.

Again, thank you for your patience as we awaited guidance from the Commonwealth. We are fully committed to making Commencement special and meaningful for our 2020 graduates.

We will be reaching out with further details in the coming days via email and on our Commencement 2020 webpage. If you have any questions, please email them to commencement@dean.edu.

Thank you and congratulations,

Paula M. Rooney, Ed.D.
