Thomas Paolino graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business. Read on to learn more about Thomas!

Where are you currently employed? What industry is it in?

I work for the State of Rhode Island.

    What is your job title?

I am the State Senator of District 17 (Lincoln, North Providence, and North Smithfield).

Tell us about your job. What are some of the duties and activities you are responsible for?

As a State Senator, I am responsible for creating and voting on laws in Rhode Island. I am also required to participate in fundraisers and other events.

What is the best and worst part of your job?

The best part is representing my district's concerns and connecting with my constituents. The worst part is all the emails! I also have to make some very difficult decisions when voting on legislation because I will make some people upset regardless of my choice and depending on their side of the issue they stand.

How did Dean College prepare you for your career?

Dean prepared me in many ways but most of all in writing and communication. Presentations and writing workshops pushed me out of my comfort zone and created confidence. This serves me well today in my very public job.

As a Dean College graduate, you'll always be an important member of the Dean community. Whether you graduated five years ago or 50, you have lifelong access to networking events, sporting events, job opportunities and much more.
