On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 Dean College welcomed William S. Armstrong as the first speaker of the semester in the Leadership In Action series.

Armstrong is the Vice President and Regional General Manager at McDonald’s Corporation where he leads the development and implementation of a clear vision and strategy for a region that consists of over 650 restaurants and over 1.5 billion in sales across 7 states.

Armstrong graduated from Florida State University and began working as a Training Manager for the Central American and Caribbean division of Yum! Brands for 5 years. He continued his education at University of Miami and received his master’s degree in International Business/Finance.

He moved from his role at Yum! Brands to a Franchise Area Director for the Latin America division of Wendy’s International, where he remained for 13 years. In July of 2010, Armstrong made his next move to Director of Operations at McDonalds Corporation, where he has continued to work his way up the ladder to his current role.

“You should set personal goals for 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years and 10 years,” he said. “That way you are always trying to achieve something.”

In his current role as Vice President and Regional General Manager, Armstrong is directly responsible for Market Share growth through Marketing, Development and Operations.

Armstrong provided the students with some advice on how they can become successful in their chosen fields, “Continue to educate yourself, take classes all the time,” he said. “The more you learn, the more people you meet and the easier it is to find a job.”

Armstrong left the students with some final words of inspiration.

“The best investment in life, is the investment in yourself.”
