About DEAN'S Pre-College Programs
Designed especially for high school students, our Pre-College Programs offer a great introduction to college life. With the option of living on campus for the week, you’ll get a taste of what being a college student is really like, while gaining hands-on experience in an exciting career field.
Choose between Sports Broadcasting, Podcasting, or Social Media Influencing and you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Explore an area of interest at the college level
- Build a portfolio of work
- Learn from and connect personally with Dean faculty and staff
- Build high-demand soft skills, such as communication, critical thinking and confidence
- Earn valuable experience to add to a resume
- Get advice on the college admissions process from a Dean College admissions counselor

PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAMS
Sports Broadcasting
Dean’s popular Sports Broadcasting Pre-College Program provides a unique opportunity for participants to gain both hands-on experience and classroom instruction. You will be exposed to multiple career paths, including sports radio, television, and play-by-play broadcasting. Instructed by seasoned sports broadcaster John Rooke—Director of The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management, and the voice of the New England Patriots, New England Revolution, and Providence College men's basketball—you will learn directly from an expert in the field. Students in this program have the option of earning 3 college credits.

Podcasting
With nearly 600 million global listeners, podcast growth shows no signs of slowing down and is proving to be a lucrative career for many. Dean’s Podcasting Pre-College Program will teach you how to create, record, edit and market your own podcast. With a focus on hands-on experience, you will utilize professional digital audio equipment, Pro Tools software, and Rodecaster II Integrated Audio Production Studios. You will also learn how to upload podcasts to all major platforms including Apple, Spotify and iHeartRadio. This unique program will be led by experienced Dean College professors who specialize in communications and social media.

Social Media Influencer
Did you know that 50 million people worldwide now consider themselves social media influencers or creators? Some have even made it their full-time job and earn $150,000 a year or more! Do you dream of being one of them? Then the Social Media Influencer Pre-College Program at Dean is for you. Learn how successful influencers are made, from content creation to marketing strategies, and even meet real-world social media influencers. You will gain hands-on experience producing professional-looking videos, designing brands, and partnering with other content creators. This cutting-edge program will be led by experienced Dean College professors who specialize in communications, marketing, and media.

Deposit
A $500 deposit is due at the time of registration. (Deposit is fully refundable until June 25, 2026)
Balance due date is June 25, 2026.
Program Refund Policy
After June 25, 2026, students may receive a refund for the program fees, minus the enrollment deposit, up to and including the first day of the course.
