Colleges of Distinction Badges 2026 - 2027

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Dean College has again been named a College of Distinction for the 2026–2027 academic year, marking the eleventh consecutive year the College has earned the national recognition for delivering an exceptional undergraduate experience.

In addition to its overall designation as a College of Distinction, Dean received recognition in several specialized categories, including Business, Career Development, Affordability, and International Student Support. The College was also recognized as a distinguished private institution in Massachusetts.

The Colleges of Distinction designation is awarded to institutions that demonstrate excellence in four key areas: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community, and Successful Outcomes. Through extensive research and evaluation, Colleges of Distinction identifies colleges and universities that prioritize meaningful student experiences, personalized education, and strong outcomes.

"Being recognized as a College of Distinction for the eleventh consecutive year reflects the unwavering commitment of our faculty and staff to student success," said Dean College Interim President Darrell Kulesza. "At Dean, students benefit from close relationships with faculty, hands-on learning opportunities, and a supportive community that empowers them to grow academically, professionally, and personally. We are proud to provide an educational experience that prepares students not only for successful careers, but also for meaningful lives."

Dean's recognition as a Business College of Distinction highlights the College's commitment to preparing students for leadership roles through experiential learning, industry engagement, and practical coursework. The Career Development distinction recognizes Dean's focus on helping students translate classroom learning into career success through internships, mentorship, professional networking, and individualized career support.

That commitment to career readiness is reflected in Dean's outcomes. One hundred percent of Dean students complete an internship or field experience, and 96 percent of graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within one year of graduation.

Dean was also recognized as an Affordable College of Distinction, honoring institutions that provide strong educational value and support students in navigating the cost of higher education. The International Student Support distinction recognizes colleges that create welcoming environments and provide resources that help international students thrive academically and socially.

With an average class size of 16 students, a 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and a strong emphasis on experiential learning, Dean provides students with opportunities to engage deeply with their studies while receiving personalized guidance and support. These high-impact practices are central to the College's mission of preparing graduates to make meaningful contributions in their careers and communities.
