      John Rooke Named Director of The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management at Dean College

      Dean College, a private, residential college located in Franklin, Mass., welcomed John Rooke as director of The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management and Distinguished Executive Faculty in the Schools of Business and the Arts.

      The Center was created by Dean College as an academic partnership with the Kraft Sports Group (KSG). It will provide opportunities for students to gain insight from KSG officials, including executives of the New England Patriots, New England Revolution and Patriot Place.

      "I'm thrilled to be a part of this initiative at Dean College,” said Rooke. “I am looking forward to working with the students to provide new educational experiences through our relationship with the Kraft Sports Group, including the Patriots and the Revolution. The students at Dean will be the real winners here.  It's a chance to learn from professionals in the sports and entertainment industries."

      Rooke is an award-winning broadcaster and a member of the 2011 class for the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame. He has more than 30 years of electronic, print and new media experience in large and small markets as well as at the network level. For the past 26 years, he has served as the play-by-play voice for Providence College basketball. Additionally, he has served as the public address announcer for the New England Patriots for the past 22 seasons. Rooke also serves as a featured columnist for Patriots.com and WEEI.com and has authored a book on the history of radio in Rhode Island entitled "Rhode Island Radio" (Arcadia Publishing, 2012).

      A 1981 journalism graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rooke has held a position as adjunct professor at Emerson College in Boston. He has been named one of the top sports broadcasting instructors in the country by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America. Rooke also serves as a commercial voice artist and an auctioneer.

      Dean College Receives Davis Educational Foundation Grant

      Dean College has been awarded $180,150 from the Davis Educational Foundation.

      The grant will support the proposal titled The Bulldog Experience: Curriculum and Career Integration, which will create a robust, connective four-year framework that integrates career preparation with the curriculum and co-curriculum.

      This project recognizes the need for formalized career preparation to support every student’s career exploration and achievement of career-building accomplishments before graduation. 

      “Dean College is thrilled to receive funding from the Davis Educational Foundation,” says Project Co-Director Wendy Adler, Associate Vice President, Student Success and Career Planning. “We are committed to providing our students with a quality education that will last beyond their time here,” adds Melissa Read, Assistant Vice President, Academic Affairs and Project Co-Director.

      General Donald Bolduc '86 to Speak at Dean College Executive Lecture Series, March 20, 2019

      Dean College is honored to host Brigadier General Donald Bolduc ‘86, US Army, Retired, for the Dean College Leadership Institute Executive Lecture Series on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. 

      The Executive Series offers a unique and interactive opportunity for students, alumni and the local community to interact with today’s business leaders.

      BG Donald Bolduc, Class of 1986, retired in 2017 after 32 years of active duty service to his country in which he received two awards for valor, five Bronze Star medals, two Purple Hearts, led ten deployments, and survived a bomb blast, numerous fire fights and a helicopter crash.

      BG Bolduc, former Commander, Special Operations Command Africa, has hung up his fatigues to advocate for veterans and their families, the treatment and shedding the stigma of PTS, TBI, pain management, sleep disorders and neurotoxicity both from within the US military as well as the general public. 

      Featuring an unprecedented list of national business leaders, including past speakers like Robert K. Kraft, Jonathan Kraft, Bert Jacobs, Anne M. Finucane, the Executive Lecture Series is a signature event for the Dean Leadership Institute and an exciting opportunity for our students and the community to gain knowledge from an experienced business executive.

      Dean College Move-In Information, January 2019

      Move-in is an exciting time! Dean College check-in and move-In information for Spring 2019 is as follows:

      New Student Check-In

      Monday, January 21st 9am-9:30am

      Check-In for ALL New Students, both commuter and resident, is schedule from 9am to 9:30am in the Campus Center. Students will need to be cleared prior to moving into their assigned residence halls or participating in New Student Orientation. The orientation program starts at 11:15am in the Campus Center for both students and families.

      Returning Resident Student Check-In

      Monday, January 21st, 9am-5pm

      Returning Resident students who have NOT been cleared for Direct Check-In must go to the Campus Center to Check-In. Once the student is cleared for check in, they may proceed to the Campus Safety/Residence Life table in the Campus Center Atrium to have their student ID activated. Students not cleared for direct check in with not have ID access to their buildings until they have completed any clearance holds.

      Returning Resident students who have been CLEARED for Direct Check-In may proceed directly to their residence hall.

      Any student arriving to Check-In after 5pm on Monday, January 21st must be CLEARED to check in and attend classes on Tuesday, January 22nd. Students who are not cleared must check in with the Center for Financial Planning and Services in Dean Hall prior to attending classes on Tuesday, January 22nd.

      All students must swipe their ID card prior to entering their residence hall building. This allows us to verify the student is on campus.

      Returning Commuter Student Check-In

      Monday, January 15th 9am-5pm

      Returning Commuter students who have NOT been cleared for Direct Check-In must go to the Campus Center to Check-In on Monday, January 21st between 9am-5pm or in Dean Hall with the Center for Financial Planning and Services prior to attending classes on Tuesday, January 22nd. 

      Returning Commuter students who have been CLEARED for Direct Check-In may go directly to their first class on Tuesday, January 22nd.

      Administrative offices will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
