More than fifty years after leaving Dean, members of the Class of 1976 returned to campus on May 8 and 9 to reconnect with classmates, relive cherished memories, and celebrate a milestone achievement: their induction into Dean College's 50th Society.
The weekend began Friday evening with the Class of 1976 & Friends 50th Reunion Reception, where classmates and friends gathered to catch up, share stories, and reminisce about their days at Dean. As old friends reunited, many seeing one another for the first time in decades, many laughs and memories were shared.
On Saturday morning, members of the Class of 1976 and prior 50th Society inductees participated in a longstanding Dean tradition by joining the academic procession at the College's 160th Commencement ceremony. Wearing commemorative gold regalia, they were warmly welcomed by graduates, families, faculty, staff, and fellow alumni as they processed onto the Quad, symbolizing the enduring connection between Dean's past, present, and future.
Following Commencement, at the 50th Society Induction Ceremony and Luncheon Interim President Darrell Kulesza formally welcomed the Class of 1976 into the Society and presented each inductee with a commemorative 50th Society medal.
In her remarks, Director of Alumni and Family Engagement Joanne Coluccio reflected on the enduring bonds formed at Dean and the special role alumni play in the life of the College. "While the school's name may have changed over the years – whether you attended as Dean Academy or Dean Junior College – the feeling of this place remains the same. This is still your campus, your home, and your community."
As the newest members of the 50th Society, the Class of 1976 joins generations of Dean alumni whose lives and accomplishments continue to shape the College's history and future. Their presence on campus served as a powerful reminder that while much can change over fifty years, the friendships, experiences, and sense of belonging that begin at Dean endure for a lifetime.
