    Local Student Hangouts

The Intern Corner features blog posts with helpful advice from our current marketing intern on campus!

Sometimes you just need to get off campus and have a break. Luckily, Franklin is close to some really cool stuff! If you don’t mind a quick train ride, Boston is only about 45 minutes away or if you have a friend with a car you can go explore Providence, RI. If those are too far for what you’re looking to do, here are some closer places and activities that students love to go hangout at!

    1. The Cake Bar - The cake bar has every sweet pastry and cake you could possibly want! They are located in the same building as the Franklin Commons and are a short 3-minute walk from campus. They also have a discount for Dean students which is extremely helpful when living on a college budget.

    2. Beaver Pond - Beaver pond is a little body of water just down the road from campus. It’s about a 10-minute walk and it has a nice little beach where you can swim in the water. When the weather is nice, many Dean students head down there and all hang out and take in the sun. The beach and park are open until dark every day.

    3. Wrentham Premium Outlets - The Wrentham Outlets are an outside shopping mall that has a large variety of name brand shops. It is located one town over and we have a shuttle that drives you there and picks you up! There’s nothing like getting off campus and getting some new clothes to relax a student. Many of the shops here also offer student discounts

    4. Patriots Place - There is nothing better than being in the atmosphere of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium. Every Saturday there is a shuttle that takes students over to Patriots Place to shop and get some food. When walking through Patriots Place, with Gillette Stadium looking over you, you can’t help but feel the energy and pride of being a New England Patriots fan. This is a great place to walk around and hang out with some friends!

    5. Franklin Public Library - I know what you’re thinking. A library? The Franklin Public Library is a very special place that many Dean Students go to get some peace and quiet in an extremely historic place. The Franklin Public Library is the first ever public library in the United States and has an absolutely beautiful interior. It has recently been renovated to offer more technology but the historic bones of the building are still there and thriving. It is a great place to relax and read a book.
