students gathered around guest speakers, Brenda Tracy and Kyle Richard in the guidrey center on campus.

Dean welcomed nationally recognized speakers Brenda Tracy and Kyle Richard to campus for an evening discussion on sexual assault prevention and bystander intervention. Brenda Tracy, a sexual assault survivor, addressed the critical importance of engaging students in the hopeful elimination of sexual assault on college campuses. Kyle Richard, an individual that put his life on the line to prevent a sexual assault, focused his presentation on the importance of being an active bystander. The event was supported by grant funding awarded to Dean College by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women.

To honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), students participated in Set the Expectation: Be Brave activities to integrate the lessons learned from Brenda and Kyle’s presentations about preventing violence on campus and learn how to become a BRAVE Bystander.
